Beginner
- For ensembles in the first year of instruction
- Content is engaging, but not overwhelming
- Features only the first 6 notes of the D major scale
- Rhythms include whole, half, quarter, and sparse eighths
- Violin II and viola double
- Pieces feature optional piano accompaniment
easy
- Ideal for advancing first and second year students
- Rhythms begin to include simple eighth note syncopations
- Right hand technique building with staccatos, legatos, two-note slurs, and easy bow lifts
- Violin II and viola are independent, violin III provided as an optional viola T.C. when not already doubled
- Pieces feature optional piano accompaniment
Medium Easy
- For advancing middle school and developing high school ensembles
- Dotted rhythms and light sixteenth patterns introduced, triplets used sparingly
- Right hand technique expands with four-note slurs, hooked bows, and adjacent string crossings
- Double stops introduced
- Violin II and viola are independent, violin III provided as an optional viola T.C. when not already doubled
Medium
- Best suited for high school and advanced middle school ensembles
- Higher positions are explored
- Rhythms freely use light syncopation and triplets

- For intermediate to advanced high school and collegiate ensembles
