biography.
Cindy Hill is a classically trained musician and award-winning violist from Texas. Mrs. Hill received her Bachelor of Music from Sam Houston State University, studying composition with Kip Wile. She received her MA from DBU.
Mrs. Hill’s music is always written with a goal in mind. Her goals in composition are to teach concepts, fill in gaps where school orchestra literature is scarce, and always to create music that is enjoyable and will help promote lifetime music lovers. Mrs. Hill’s music is always creative and exciting with a unique flare all her own. Since Mrs. Hill’s primary instrument is viola, her music always includes equally challenging parts for all instruments. She does not believe that the violin players are the only students who deserve a challenge. Mrs. Hill’s purpose in sharing her compositions, and creating new compositions for teachers, is to provide music that orchestra teachers are looking for. Since Mrs. Hill is an orchestra teacher herself, specializing in elementary and middle school, she knows how difficult it can be to find “just the right piece” for a certain group. Many of her pieces were written because colleagues lamented that there was not enough selection of a certain type of music. Mrs. Hill is an orchestra director in Texas and every year students and audiences enjoy compositions written just for her students. Mrs. Hill has only recently begun sharing some of her compositions for other orchestras to perform. She hopes your students will get as much pleasure out of playing her music as she enjoyed creating it. |
