Rochester NY native, Jerbrel Bowens is an aspiring young composer that offers a wide variety of style and sound at all levels of achievement for young beginning ensembles, all the way up to collegiate & professional level ensembles. Jerbrel’s K-12 education background serves as his foundation for writing music with student success at the center of his creativity. This ensures success in the classroom and in your performance space which allows for fun and emotional music-making opportunities. Jerbrel’s marching arts experience ranges from being and marcher to directing and teaching championship ensembles and having an array of his shows performed all over the world.
Jerbrel earned his bachelor's degree in Music Education with a concentration in composition and percussion from Houghton College in Houghton NY. He currently serves as a full-time music teacher at School of the Arts in Rochester NY, and is serving as arranger and director for the NYSFBC LS2 championship marching band in Webster NY. Jerbrel has been composing since the age of 8 and continues to prosper in this field. He has written over 100+ pieces for Marching Band, Drum Corps, Wind Ensemble, Choir, Indoor Percussion, Chamber ensembles, Orchestra, and drumline. He looks to serve ensembles, students, and educators that love to make and perform music just as much as he does. A few composers that have inspired Jerbrel to write music are Richard Saucedo, Michael Sweeney, Samuel Hazo, Leonard Bernstein, Sean O'loughlin, Mariah Schneider, Erica Seguine, Dave Rivello, Aaron Copland, Percy Grainger, Igor Stravinsky, Robert Glasper, David H. Davies, Malcolm Bell, and Joseph Organisciak. |
