biography.
Jason Taurins (b. 1991, he/him/his) is a music educator, composer/arranger, and clinician. He has lived in Arizona since 2015, where he was recently appointed Director of Instrumental Music at Prescott High School. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Western Michigan University, where he studied composition with Lisa Coons and Richard Adams. His musical interests include writing for school bands and orchestras, arranging for marching band, and writing chamber music. He is an active advocate of music by living composers, and diversity in musical programming.
His music has won numerous awards, and has been performed throughout North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia. He has been invited to perform with the World Youth Wind Orchestra Project in Schladming, Austria. You can listen to his music on the PARMA Recordings and Phasma Music labels. He is a Brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, and holds membership in Pi Kappa Lambda, Alpha Lambda Delta, the Society of Composers, Inc., the National Association for Music Education, and the Prescott Education Association. |
