Gustavo Larrea has been awarded prizes such as "Arturo Márquez National Composition Contest for Chamber Orchestra", "Young Composers of the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra and in 2017 he was a member of the" Arturo Márquez Extraordinary Chair "awarded by the UNAM, and directed by Arturo Márquez In 2016 he was the winner of the composition competition of the "Arturo Márquez" chamber orchestra, with his work "Andenes". In addition, in 2017 this work was the winner of the "Young Composers" contest organized by the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra. In 2018 he obtained "Arturo Márquez Extraordinary Chair", where he wrote "Voces" for chamber and baritone orchestra and "Fayuca" for symphony orchestra. In 2019 “Andenes” in its version of the Symphonic Orchestra, was premiered by the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, in the Tlaqná Hall. In that same year "Fayuca" was premiered worldwide, for Symphonic Orchestra, in the Sala Nezahualcóyotl of Ciudad Universitaria. His music has been performed by the Xalapa Symphony, the Mexico City Quintet of Breaths, Lanfranco Marcelletti, José Luis Castillo, Jesús Medina, Teresa Frenk, Cristián Gohmer, Rodrigo Urrutia, among others, and in various venues such as the Blas Auditorium Galindo, Roberto Cantoral Room, Museum of Contemporary Art, Carlos Chávez Room, Palace of Fine Arts, Nezahualcóyotl Room, among others. In 2020 he participated in the Bowdoin music festival by composers Derek Bermel and Andreia Pinto Correia. He is currently studying composition at the Faculty of Music, with Dr. Gabriela Ortíz.
