Magic is altogether mystifying and unknown - its forces powerful and illuminating - but sometimes, there are consequences. Explore the dangerous aspects of magic in this dark and electrifying show, where spirits are summoned, original & classical music are woven together, and chaos ensues! Dukas’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” conjures up and introduces these mystical spirits in a whirlwind of sight and sound. Hope and peace are sought after in a sentimental respite, guided by the heart-wrenching finale of Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite” and bracketed by the eerie stillness of the night from the third movement of Prokofiev’s “Scythian Suite”. The frenzied spirits return in a fiery dance from the second movement of the Prokofiev suite, culminating in a bombastic finale that re-spins Dukas’s iconic work back into the fray! (5'10")
