listen.about.
From sunrise to sunset, Sol follows the sun’s rays throughout the day. This work, in three contrasting sections, is perfect for any medium-level ensemble seeking to explore expanded harmony in new keys.
This piece takes its name from the Latin word for the sun and describes the rays of light from the sun throughout the day. The piece starts with the sunrise: a thin orchestra of strings and solo woodwinds that slowly builds up to a bright full sound. Followed by the afternoon: a lively dance that builds in intensity and fervor. Lastly, the long colorful rays of sunset: the full orchestra singing out and slowly fading to only upper strings and harp as the sun disappears into
the evening sky. piece information.
