biography.
Kelly Bennette, was born in Port Arthur, TX. And grew up in the neighboring city of Groves. He graduated from Lamar University with a degree in music education in 1989. He was tubist for the Beaumont Symphony Orchestra for nine years and the Lamar Faculty Brass Quintet for six years. He directed the Lamar B Jazz Band for three years. He retired after twenty eight years of band directing in May of 2017. He plays tuba with the East Texas Symphonic Band, the Lakes Country Symphonic Band and the Tyler Community Band. He performs regularly with the Association of Concert Bands convention band, the National Community Band as well as the Windjammers Circus Band. Mr. Bennette began composing in 1999. His work includes around seventy marches as well as many pieces for concert band ranging from grade 1 to around grade 5. He is published by many companies in the U.S., the U.K., Belgium and The Netherlands.
