biography.

John Licari is a music teacher, composer, drummer/percussionist, and marching band leader. He earned his Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Music Business from SUNY Orange in 2005, followed by a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music in 2009, and a Master of Arts (MA) in Music Education in 2011, both from CUNY Hunter College.

Since graduating in 2011, Mr. Licari has served as a music teacher within the New York City public school system. He currently holds a position in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where he directs a concert band and a modern rock band, and provides assistance to the choir and string orchestra programs.

​With over 20 years of experience as a drummer, John has performed with numerous punk rock ensembles, including The Black Hand, Tesla's Revenge, Lotus Patch, These Autumn Years, The Orgonauts, Cop/Out, and Punk Rock Polka Experience.

John's compositions have been published by esteemed publishing houses such as HaMaR Percussion Publications, Imagine Music Publishing, and Musika Publishing. He has also self-published over 40 original works and arrangements available on SMP Press.

He resides in Poughkeepsie with his wife, Kerry, and their daughter, Lennon.
