After a brief Introduction, Mekailian’s challenging work for string orchestra moves between moods with elegance; From driving to delicate, then shifting back once again, Introduction and Allegro is exhilarating from start to finish!
Introduction and Allegro was composed for Misha Rechlevsky’s Russian String Orchestra as part of a composition competition held at UCLA in 2018. Paul composed this piece under the instruction of esteemed professor and composer Dr. Ian Krouse. Although his work was not selected, it is still one of Paul’s favorite pieces to date. The work is composed in a Neoclassical style, and suggests elements of traditional Russian music.
