“A study in minimalism, this captivating work creates a sound space that immerses listeners of all kinds.” Harvest is built upon a tenor saxophone drone, varied only in rhythm, which drives the piece to its subtle and sparse end.
A study in minimalism, this captivating work creates a sound space that immerses listeners of all kinds. A deception of the harvest moon rising in the night giving light to the darkness. The tenor saxophone drones throughout to piece on a single pitch varying on rhythm, slowly developing freedom as the work continues. Each instrument slowly developing as the work continues like the moon slowly developing the colors of the landscape as it ascends higher and higher into the night sky. As the moon has reached it's peak in the sky so does the music as the rhythms intensify only to slowly die away as the moon slips below the horizon once again. As the work comes to a close the tenor saxophone echos the theme one last time as dawn's first light floods through.
