listen.about.
Davenport’s orchestral debut is nothing short of phenomenal! This triptych for euphonium and orchestra is technically and lyrically challenging while showcasing new sounds for soloist and ensemble alike!
Echelon takes the listener on a journey through the stages of one's emotion. Movement one begins in a fury of motion and confusion; detailing one's initial response to a truly heartbreaking event experienced in life. This emotionally driven feeling of desperation and pandemonium is what takes this movement to it's conclusion. After the dust has cleared from the initial feelings of any emotional loss, we are greeted with a movement of a more tender nature. This area of this piece explores one's more sorrowful experience. Filled with emotional highs and lows, we explore the sometimes brutal process of reflection and acceptance. Finally, the third movement erupts in a new triumphant light as we look forward to what is to come in life. Met with a feeling of new found strength and restored confidence as we rise up, ready to face the trials ahead.
