biography.Chris Shelton is an award-winning, internationally performed composer, recording engineer, and educator. He has won the American Prize for chamber music composition for his piece “Serpent Mound” and holds a prestigious Latin GRAMMY® Award for his outstanding work as a recording engineer on the album "A La Fiesta de la Música Vamos Todos." Additionally, Chris has won the AIVA Communicator Award for consumer marketing and communications in the film category, The Davey Award, the Anthem Award, and is a multi-Global Music Award- winning composer, music technologist, and audio engineer, earning recognition in categories such as contemporary classical, funk fusion, Latin jazz, mixed-genre, and vocal jazz. His music has been performed at festivals in Europe, South America, and the United States by such ensembles as, PHACE Ensemble, SOLI Chamber Music Ensemble, JACK Quartet, Transient Canvas, and Ensemble Dal Niente. After having studied at Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory, Chris is currently a doctoral student in composition at the University of Florida where he is also an Instructor of Digital Musicianship and Production, Music Production in Commercial Media, and Music Business & Entrepreneurship. With a diverse compositional portfolio ranging from classical and large ensemble pieces to chamber music, jazz, and commercial music, Chris showcases his versatility and creativity as an artist. Chris has had articles published in Artivate, Journal of Arts Entrepreneurship Education, Open Journal of Music Education, the National Association for Music Education blog, and is the managing editor of The International Journal of Music Entrepreneurship & Leadership.
